This song is the second “dream song” to ever have happened to me. I dreamt that I was watching a duo playing the chorus and was thinking “damn, that’s a cool song! I wish I had written that.” And then I woke up and immediately put pen to paper and fingers to strings. I wrote it in a couple hours. I think it was my subconscious telling me about how “done” I was feeling in regards to trying to work things out with my ex, and how despite the enormous effort I had put in and how much I wanted things to work, ultimately the only thing it was bringing me was pain and feeling used.
